Experiencing Ascot With Wallis

Last weekend I was whisked away to Ascot by the lovely girls from Wallis. Having never been to Ascot before, let along had the privilege of being hosted in a private box, I thought I’d take you guys along! It’s a bit of a mixture of pictures but you get a feel for it! It was honestly the most beautiful day so sunglasses were essential along with plenty of money to place bets with! I got a bit sneaky with my pictures so there’s quite a few of random people that I thought made my pictures look better, as you do! But don’t you think this woman’s hat compliments the view perfectly?! Photo time on the balcony, sorry about the lighting on this guys – it was so sunny outside and shaded under the balcony so it was either really dark or really light or NADA! ALL OF THE FOOD!!! We were treated to a 3 course meal which was incredible followed by afternoon tea which was as tasty as is was photogenic, all the while being waited on hand and foot by two lovely girls! This dress from Wallis actually surprised me so much. I always think of Wallis as somewhere sensible work women and Mums shop but actually there’s so many pieces that I really liked. I’m pretty ashamed at myself for writing them off so easily!! Something like this dress is perfect because It was just the right length for the occasion and easy to make your own. I added my smart white coat for a full look but it was super hot and sunny all day – perfect for the races! So I pretty much ditched the jacket for the day! who would have thought it might actually be warm in May!? I went for nude accessories to keep it really light and summery! It was funny because all of us went for either navy or cream so we were looked like a well dressed girlband!

Why not having many friends is a good thing

Why not having many friends is a good thing

I sometimes feel like I have too many friends, throughout life we gain friends in everything we do. Every new job or school, going to university and moving to a new city all brings new friends and what happens to the old ones? If everyone were to stay in touch with every friend they’d ever make it would be exhausting. Basically you would have a hell of a lotta friends, and not too many good friends, this is why not having many good friends is a good thing! For me, I’ve started to realise since blogging and styling and social media-ing and god knows what else, that I just don’t have a lot of spare time. Bearing that in mind I’ve sort of decided to stop clinging on to friendships that died long ago, instead investing that time in the friends I love and who love me in return. I’m about to get soppy here, but me and my friends (my close friends) who I went to college with have a pretty close relationship. Although there’s a lot of us, and we may not all see each other as often as we’d like, we’ve always got each others backs. I’ll always remember when I had a cold a couple of years ago and they brought round cards, soup, a mug, tissues and my favourite sweets. Basically, they took the place of my non existent boyfriend. Why not having many friends is a good thing I think that the older you get, the more apparent it becomes who you’re real friends are and with blogging I am constantly gaining new friends who have so much in common and who I can share the experience with. This is why I’ve decided to stop clinging on to the friendships of my past and invest in my besties! As with anything, it’s quality over quantity and for that reason I think that not having many friends is a good thing, it means you can spend more time on the friendships that have stood the test of time! *Shirt : Boden Jeans : Asos Shoes : Topshop Bag : Zara SOLD OUT – Similar here I would love it if you followed me on Bloglovin’ and don’t forget that it’s the best way to stay up to date with the latest posts! Learning to Quiet Your Mind

Learning to Quiet Your Mind

For me this is a big, huge one, my mind is totally in control of me and this is not the way it should be. You should be in control of your mind and learning to quiet your mind is a huge step in the right direction. Firstly, I know what you’re thinking, my mind is me – it’s my mind after all. WRONG. Letting your mind take over is a one way road to stress, anxiety and worry as I myself have found out the hard way. Learning to quiet your mind I wish there was an off button for your mind, there kind of is in meditation though it isn’t an instant thing and doesn’t work for everyone – myself included. Because of this I’ve found a few tricks that help me when I’m in an overthinking spiral of doom, so naturally I wanted to share the wealth. Write it down This is something I usually only do at home but I do need to start carrying a little notebook round with me because it genuinely helps to quiet your mind. It’s basically emptying your mind onto a piece of paper, I find that this works particularly well if I can’t sleep for worry! Another thing I do is to write what it is I’m worrying about down and what the worst case scenario is – usually it’s actually not that bad and it helps me to realise that I’m being a bit stupid worrying over nothing! Throw it out or watch it pass by This one is actually embarrassing to admit but I told a friend about it recently and she said it helped her so here goes. I usually do this one if I’m on my way to somewhere in the car and I’m stressing out and working myself up, I literally circle my head with my hand as if I’m gathering up everything and wind down the car window and throw it out and wind the window back up so the negative thoughts are outside. I know I sound like a complete nutter but honestly it really helps to physically throw them out the window! Another technique is to imagine the thoughts as a stream or a river and to just imagine yourself sat watching them come and go and flow past. I also like to imagine a small bubble of nothingness growing in my mind and pushing out anything else in my mind, clearing it out if you like. These visualisation ones help me to quiet my mind so much! “Thanks for your opinion” So as I said before your mind is not you, after your mind has gone on a whole tirade stressing you out and over thinking, just say “thanks for your opinion” as if it’s someone else saying it to you. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that these negative thoughts are you and control you because they don’t. Be grateful This is something that really helps to counteract the negative thoughts and quiet your mind. Think about things…

Can Tea Make You Sleep Better?

Can Tea Make You Sleep Better?

When I was approached by Tea company Teami about trying some of their products, my first thought was – not one of those detox teas that give you diarohea. I’ve seen so many people try them – including my sister, and I just don’t know if I’m down with something that flushes your system. However, Teami have a range of different teas and after doing some exploring, my anxious stressed out self couldn’t help but be excited about the though of a tea that claims to relax you. I wake up most mornings with a light headache and aching jaw from clenching my teeth all night and I rarely sleep through without getting up in the night at least once. Could this tea be the answer to my prayers? The Ultimate Question : Can Tea Make You Sleep Better? So the ultimate question for me was – does the tea work? I tried it out in the handy little flask (more on that later) night after night and I have to say my results were varied. When I slept, I woke up refreshed, I slept more deeply and I didn’t clench my jaw . . hurrah! However, I wouldn’t say that it changed my sleeping habits. It didn’t get me to sleep any easier but when I did sleep, it was joyous.  Just one more comment on the taste – it’s nice. Not what I expected, I mean how can a tea that tastes nice benefit you? I added a dollop of honey as suggested on the packet and it was delicious. So if you get the flask, it’s super handy as it keeps the tea super duper warm for ages and has a handy sieve that strains the tea as you drink. As I was drinking my tea before I went to bed – my nights got later as the tea just did not cool – that flask is thermal alright. I used it like a little tea pot to stew the tea, pouring it into a mug when I wanted to drink! They also do these handy little tea infusers that fit neatly into a mug! Join the Teami You can use the code MINDFUL10 for 10% off any of the products from Teami. You can also choose from their wide range of teas, if you’re not put off by the whole detox tea trend like me, they do a great range of detox teas including a colon cleanse. There’s also teas for Skinny, Energy and Alive. You can see the full range here.

Travelling takes quite a bit of planning and although we knew we were going for 3 months, the places were undecided until a couple of days ago when we sat down and finalised our route! Skyscanner determined a lot of this as we’ve found some super cheap flights – some as low as £14! If you haven’t checked them out already then Skyscanner truly is the one for flights guys!
