Sight Seeing Outfit Inspiration | Chiang Mai

Sightseeing Outfit - Thailand HM Summer Trousers

Happy Sunday guys! I wanted to share more of my stuff from Thailand with you because when you go to a place as beautiful as this with a group of talented creatives, it’s inevitable that you end up with a shed ton of content!

On the final day we were treated to a Tuk Tuk tour of Chiang Mai which included a visit to the local market and two temples. For all of these visits, particularly the temples, a certain dress code is needed and I myself have often found it super hard to navigate often either a, drowning in a pool of my own sweat or b, having to cover myself in those “shared” scarves they keep a pile of at the front of temples incase you’re not covered enough, neither is a good option my friends.

So with that said, I wanted to share with you my ultimate sight seeing outfit because I have to say, I nailed it this time guys.

Sight Seeing Outfit Inspiration

When you’re picking your outfit for sightseeing there’s so many things to consider, first of all is your own well being. It’s bloody hot in Thailand and we went in rainy season so without sounding too much like Monica from friends, the humidity! It was real. Then you need to think about the culture, in Thai temples as with many other places of worship, you must be respectful and cover your shoulders and knees. Also you must make sure you’ve not got a low cut top on that will offend anyone!

I picked this outfit up at H&M and honestly it was so perfect. First of all it was the first time i’ve ever been to a temple and not been uncomfortable either from feeling too on show or too hot from the unnecessary layers. These trousers are so comfortable and lightweight and paired with a cute little top that covers my shoulders I felt good about myself without offending the locals. I’ve often gone down the route of completely covering my arms but it’s just not necessary, just the shoulders will do.

Finally you have to think about the shoes. Most of the temples you cannot wear shoes inside, so if you want to actually go inside and find out more, look at the interior and witness the traditions etc, you’re going to be taking your shoes off a lot. So make sure you wear something super comfortable and easy to slip on and off. I wore these rope sandals which are literally a dream but I have to pre warn that these were not a great choice for the market. Having soaked up a bucket load of fish gut water I’m sad to say these babies had to stay in Chiang Mai. RIP. Currently looking to replace them ASAP

These photos are absolutely gorgeous! I went to Thailand around 10 years ago and absolutely fell in love with it, would definitely go back. I love those trousers, linen is such a great material to wear when abroad when you’re visiting temples in hot climates and needing to cover up. Also obsessed with your backpack, it’s stunning! xx
