How to Style a Wrap Scarf

I haven’t done a post like this in a while so I thought it would be fun (and hopefully helpful) to do a three ways to wear post! I was sent this Burberry esque wrap scarf and honestly it’s been my winter saviour. I’s got the slits for your arms so you can wear it a la cape but I think it looks pretty good as a chunky scarf personally! I do think though, it’s the perfect example of how great a wrap scarf can be, firstly it’ll keep me warm and allow me to wear a simple long sleeved top. Secondly, it turns just jeans and a top into a pulled together look. They do this wrap scarf in two different shades but I like the brighter colours because it reminds me of the Burberry one that was floating around last year. It also goes with a surprising amount of colours, well the limited amount of colours I wear anyway! Obviously, these boots are going to be hard to avoid now seen as I’m in love. I like to roll my jeans up to avoid the weird tucky in part which just never looks right. I also think a little bit of skin never hurt anyone and breaks it up a bit! I’ve paired it with the white version of the khaki top I was wearing in the first look – yes we’ve already established I’m a girl of habit! Beauty Buys This month I’ve been getting into beauty so much, I’m truly determined to learn from the best and become a beauty guru! I’ve had a lot of gifts in the form of beauty products recently which I find is great for trying out new things and seeing what works best for me. Real Techniques // Sigma After buying my Louise Young foundation brush I’ve literally gone brush crazy. I now know I need a separate brush (at least one) for each thing. I found a great set of real techniques brushes for just £16.99 from TK Maxx the other day. They had so many brushes, both individually packaged and in sets so if you live near one I would recommend popping in! I went for this set because I wanted something for my bronze and eyeshadow, then I got the flat foundation brush (hate flat foundation brushes but I’m sure I’ll find a use for it) as an added extra! These HD brushes were kindly sent to me by the lovely people at Sigma. They’re angled in a way that allows you to apply your foundation and concealer to create a flawless finish, reaching all creases and cracks! I had to shoot these pictures quite speedily because I actually wanted to try them! I think the concealer brush is in-credible, amazing for getting into all of the areas around the eye! The foundation brush failed to win my heart, I’ll be fair to it though, it did a good job, but I just will never stray from my Louise Young! It will probably be good for when I want a higher coverage, if I’m going out for the evening or something!! They also sent me this super fancy brush cleaning mat which I’ll put to use this evening! I’ve not washed any of my brushes yet and I’ve had my foundation one for at least a month. Apparently this is really bad and I’m lucky I don’t have spots so I’m sorting it out! Eyeko // Next So many eye products! I got this little eye palette from Next and of course I dug a chunk out of it with my fingernail as I clumsily forced it open. I was excited ok! I Still need to watch many tutorials on how to use it properly but I love the warm, neutral tones so I know I’ll love it once I know how to use it! The lovely people from Eyeko also sent me some bits to try out and I can seriously say my eyebrows are on fleek. And just eyes in general! Love the eyeliner felt tip, it’s so much easier to control than my usual pot so another aim of mine is to perfect the eyeliner flick.. is anyone getting the theme here? I suck at make up! I’m sure you’re all too aware of my obsession with my button up denim skirt so how was I ever going to not love a button up denim dress? Only problem is – when it comes to winter I’m generally more of a jeans kinda gal. You see, my passionate hate for black tights makes wearing skirts a pretty chilly problem. Until that is, I remembered this fur gilet thats been hiding in the back of my wardrobe for a while! I’m always a bit undecided when it comes to fur (faux of course) I never know if it’s nice or tacky, and I’m still not totally sold on it – what do you think? One thing I will say though is that I didn’t feel the chill despite not wearing a coat or tights – it certainly does the job! Which of course means it could be my winter saviour if I can just rest myself firmly on the classy side of the scale.   I love this look with these boots as well, if you follow me on instagram then you’ll have seen them plastered all over my page! They’re so similar to these Topshop ones but a fraction of the price! I think because they’re cut off slightly above the ankle it’s so much more flattering with a bare leg. I guess it’s the fact that they cut off in the narrow part of your leg? Secret Santa with Figleaves

  Before I start this post, can I just make an excuse about the photography? Has anyone ever tried to make a dressing gown look good in a picture? Well don’t bother its impossible. Way back in October I was contacted by the lovely people over at Figleaves about being part of a Secret Santa game with a few fellow bloggers. Obviously I couldn’t resist, who doesn’t love giving (and receiving) gifts? It was all in aid of their new online magazine which launched this month. As a website selling predominantly lingerie, I set about trying to find the perfect set of underwear that wasn’t too saucy (that would be weird).  I settled on a pretty soft lace bra with embroidered detail that came with matching pants, convinced that my chosen blogger was going to love it. So this is when my first shock came, the pants were a thong. Now, I’m not dissing the thong here, if you like thongs, then good for you, I’m just saying that it’s probably not the best thing to gift someone you’ve never actually met before. Regardless, I wrapped it up and took the pictures for the magazine then sent it off to said blogger. Second shock – when the magazine came out. There were beautiful pictures of everyones gifts they’d brought and the game was that when you got your’s you had to guess who had picked it. Looking through the pictures desperately mine stood out like a sore bloody thumb. Cute dressing gowns, check, pyjamas, check, underwear? Nope, just me! All I can do now is sit here and wait of the blogger to receive her thong and hang my head in shame. You never know, maybe she likes thongs? From random people? Anyway, Robyn from Phases of Robyn was my secret santa and she was incredible! I got the parcel when I was in my full flu/bed bound phase so there’s literally nothing more that I could have wished for than a soft and fluffy dressing gown! Well done Robyn, you da best.
