Show Me Your Sassy

When Blue Vanilla contacted me with the ultimate question, I couldn’t help but answer in the form of a blog post, what makes you feel sassy? This is a pretty difficult question because to me, sassy is a mindset. If you’re a sassy girl, you’ve just got it in you and you’ll be sassy in your greying pyjamas with holes in the same you would in killer heels and an LBD. But obviously there are certain pieces of clothing, like Bey and her Freakum’ Dress, that just make you feel like you own that shit. The Jacket of Dreams I think I can pretty much promise you that this jacket will now feature in 80% off all outfit posts slash my life in general. This is because I am in love. Jigsaw, you complete me. . the shape is just so sleek and beautiful and look how summery it makes this outfit . . and sleek. I was kindly gifted this but knowing what I now know I would 100% have paid full price for this and it’s made me do such an about turn on investment pieces and splashing out for key pieces. If in doubt, think of the pounds per wear! What Makes You Sass? I’ve already done my sassy is a mindset babble at the beginning of the post, so I thought I would show you the piece in my wardrobe that makes me feel like a Sass Queen. If in doubt, cold shoulder. For me, cold shoulder tops are my ultimate go to piece when I want to feel good and have no idea what to wear. I think that’s quite possibly why I’m addicted to buying them? Despite them being really of the moment I find them super flattering for my shape. Obviously I’m not a big breasted gal by any means, so it covers that and gives you a sneaky little shoulder show off. Because shoulders are the new boobs dont’cha know? Well maybe they aren’t, but that’s what I’m going with! I picked up this little H&M number a couple of weeks ago and love the kind of shirty material, though it does mean it creases like a mother! It’s got little shoulder straps but they’re way too long for me so I’m either cutting them off, or snipping and tieing them, I’m still undecided, opinions would be helpful! Off Shoulder Faves Shop my pick of what the stores currently have to offer in off shoulder goodness! Show Me Your Sassy I would love to know what makes you guys feel sassy, if you have a particular lipstick, handbag, heels or outfit that you know makes you feel like the queen of sassy unicorn land! OR if you, like me, think sassy is a mindset, do you have any particular hacks to getting your sassy on? Thanks so much if you’re already following me on Bloglovin’ if you’re not, what are you playing at?! It’s the best way to stay up to date with all of you’re…

Jigsaw Lived Not Modelled

Jigsaw Lived Not Modelled

When Jigsaw first contacted me about working together, I thought they’d got the wrong person, I was all . .who, me? I know you should recognise your worth and self value and all that jazz but it was one hell of a wow moment for me! Jigsaw Lived Not Modelled I love the concept of this new campaign by Jigsaw, showing the clothes in real life situations giving you inspiration and ideas on how the pieces will fit into your everyday life. So the idea, was for me to pick some pieces to mix in with what I already have. This is great because personally, I’m not able to shop in places like this a lot so for me, it’s all about picking key hero pieces if you like, that will mix in with what I already have and give my look a certain je’ne sais quoi. The Statement White Jacket Me and this jacket had love at first sight, the collar, the colour, someone please tell me what’s not to love? On the website it’s called a jacket, but I’d say it’s more of a coat. The white really brightens up an outfit and adding a certain degree of sophistication. I mean look at me, I’m wearing ripped jeans and I look sophisticated, I bet you didn’t think that was possible right? I kept this look monochrome in true Sinead style with my current favourites, the ripped Asos jeans and my beloved glove shoes! The Coatigan Now I’ve said before about how I’m on the fence about cardigans and coatigans but at the same time, I’m also pretty obsessed with anything oversized. Firstly, I love that this one has pockets, for me, pockets are essential. Secondly, look at those sleeves and the softness guys, even if you just go in store to feel this – please do. All I’m wearing here is my usually jeans and a t shirt and this knit makes it look like I’ve made an effort. This is kind of the theme I went for, key pieces that would make looking good effortless! This will be the perfect light layer when it warms up, we’ve got big plans. The Collarless Shirt Shirts are a staple in any womans wardrobe and this one just adds a lovely twist to the norm. I’ve never had a collarless shirt before but I actually really think it suits me! The flared sleeves are what sold it to me, 110%. I’d wear this sort of outfit if I had to go to London for meetings, something I can feel smart-ish in but still be comfortable. For me comfort is key, if you don’t feel comfortable in what you’re wearing you’ll have the worst day guaranteed! I’ve already decided that come spring/summer I’ll be wearing this open as a little jacket. The Breton Tee Because you can never have too many t shirts, and you can never have too many stripes. I love the neutral blush colour and I actually only own black and white or blue and white stripes, why is that? This is such a ”…

Building Relationships Between Brands and Bloggers

Building Relationships Between Brands and Bloggers

I’d like to think that most brands I work with I have managed to build an ongoing working relationship with. This post was actually requested by the lovely Nikita, so here are my tips on how to navigate your way to building relationships between brands and bloggers! Brands and Bloggers Need Each Other I think it’s so important to remember this throughout, that not only do you need them but they also need you. Brands and bloggers are both guilty of forgetting that it can be a mutually great thing when the collaboration is done right. Whilst I have had great working relationships with brands I’ve also had people tell me “there’s plenty of other bloggers that will do it” when I’m not happy with their terms, my answer? ask them then! Whilst brands can really help you to build your blogging portfolio and get your name out there, if it’s not a mutually beneficial collaboration and you’re not comfortable with what they’re asking, don’t do it. Your worth more and at the end of the day it’s your name on the blog so you have to be happy with everything you put out to the world. If you blog about something you’re giving it your seal of approval and readers value this the most, don’t take advantage of it! “You’ve got to crack a few eggs to make an omelette” Your not going to be making money from collaborations and working with big brands overnight. However, if there’s a brand you really want to get in with, why don’t you buy something and do a post on it anyway? Use all their hashtags, email them and let them know you did the post and ask for feedback and you never know where it could lead. Kirk my photographer used this quote to me when I was trying to justify a massive Misguided order in the 50% sale – you know the one that crashed their website? A brand I would love to work with, unfortunately the order wouldn’t go through and then the stuff was sold out damn you Misguided, but I’m definitely bearing this excuse/justification/great idea in mind for the next time I’m debating at the checkout. Go above and beyond expectations I think this is so important, if you’re just starting out and someone asks you to do something for them, wow them. Going above and beyond will make them sit up and watch what you’re doing, it also shows you’re creative, reliable and use your initiative . . all great things. A recent example I have of this is when I did a denim collaboration on instagram with Asos. They asked for one instagram photo, I posted several over a few weeks and did a blog post. If you have the time and the ideas, why would you not do it just because they haven’t paid or asked for it . . you have to work up to that by impressing them and showing how valuable you are. Don’t be afraid to reach out This is one that…

Denim Wardrobe Update

Denim Wardrobe Update

When it comes to my love for denim, I’ve recently admitted that I’m a one style girl and that style is skinny jeans. However, a recent miracle has happened to my denim wardrobe, a spring miracle if you like. The skinnies have been banished to the back in favour of a new style, the Mom jeans . .who would have thought it? Denim Wardrobe : The Facts This infographic on jeans by Superdry is so interesting and true in my opinion! I guess as with any item in your wardrobe there’s particular styles you favour and wear time and time again. I think it’s so funny that people hold on to their old jeans because they spend too much money on them or are waiting for them to come back into fashion. When it comes to clothes I’m really not a hoarder! I have a good eBay session at least once a month as I love to have a clean and tidy wardrobe, it helps me to get dressed more easily! I thought I would have a little rummage through my jeans and go through what my denim wardrobe looks like – they say the average person owns 7 pairs and the most popular styles are skinny, boyfriend and high waist so we will see! My Denim Wardrobe 7 pairs – I cannot believe I am that predictable, as if I match up with an infographic! Also as a self confessed denim addict I think I need to go and buy more stat! I’ve listed them in order of the amount I wear the pair! Black Ripped Mom Jeans – Asos Blue Ripped Mom Jeans – Asos These two are currently my most worn jeans by far. I fell in love with the black pair and promptly bought myself the same style in blue. I have to say I was worried about buying jeans online from Asos but I am so happy with them, I’m definitely a convert and they make the perfect additions to my denim wardrobe! Black Wax Coated Skinnies – Topshop These are my go to jeans for when I want to look smart or on nights out. I feel much smarter and dressier in this pair! Blue Straight Leg Jeans – Next A ridiculously comfortable pair of jeans that are casual and fit really nicely without being skinny. I feel like me and the skinny jeans might need some time to miss each other – not the black ones though! Blue Ripped Skinnies – Topshop These were my previous favourites and I lived in them for the past year or so. My discovery of Mom jeans and the recent additions to my denim wardrobe means these guys have definitely been pushed to the back! White Ripped Skinnies – Primark I only wear these in the summer, don’t get me wrong they get a lot of wear in the summer but at the moment they’re definitely in the back gathering dust! Grey Pull On Skinnies – H&M I literally only own these because they…
