A touch of luxury

Now I know what you’re expecting and I can tell you now there’s no Chanel handbags in this post. Soz for the misleading title guys, but this is actually a post about my new Sekonda watch from House of Watches. I personally think it’s well deserving of the title, so what, just because you don’t buy something from Harrods for thousands, it doesn’t mean its not luxury. It can be anything from a nice bath to a Hermes Birkin (I’ll take the later please and thank you). I think everyone has their own view on what luxury means, whilst I would love a Chloe handbag I also see time spent with my loved ones as one of life’s true luxuries! I was asked to choose between three watches for this post and I have to say this was my last option, now I’m wondering why. Usually, as you well know, I’m a bit of a basic dresser and opt for clean and simple style so I was actually taken aback at how much I liked this watch. There’s something about the gold and navy together that give it a touch of luxury and make it look way more than the mere £34.99 it is. The diamantes are definitely not something I would usually look for on a watch but hey, whats three diamantes between friends? I’ll tell you what else I love about this, the face. You can’t beat a big mannish watch but this ones nice and slim so you still get the size but it’s a little sleeker with it’s slim face and thin strap giving it a more feminine feel. Can you tell that I had far too much fun playing around and taking photographs for this post? I love a good flatlay and a watch always finishes the picture off perfectly, especially this Sekonda navy leather and gold tone beauty! I also just wanted to show off my new jumper from H&M, what do you think?! I’ve seen this whole wearing your watch over your jumper thing in photos before and think it looks really nice. Am I totally wrong here? Not sure it’s the sort of thing you’d wear out of the house though, perhaps if it wasn’t with such a thick jumper! What’s your favourite way to wear your watch?! You can buy my watch from House of Watches where they also have a selection of other colours, go and check them out! Follow me on Bloglovin’

Oh So Chloe

Oh So Chloe

I was sent this dress last week by @TheDressingRoomHQ, unfortunately I can’t link them or this dress because they’re instagram based but you have to check them out. I chose this one because I think it’s so Chloe esque and when paired with my sisters Chloe Faye dupe it instantly takes the look up a level. That’s what I love about accessories and why I think it’s so important to invest in them. I used to be a one bag girl and when I look back now I just don’t even recognise myself! How on earth could one bag ever do for every outfit? I myself am in the market for a Chloe dupe but I just don’t know quite how I feel about dupes. I kind of feel like if I get a dupe then when I finally save and purchase my first designer bag it’ll take the joy out of it. I don’t know though, the time I’ll actually get one seems so far in the future and these bags are so nice! What do you guys think? I’ll put some links at the bottom of this post of all the dupes I’m craving for at the minute! I really love the colours in this shirt dress, obviously you all know how obsessed I am with khaki so it comes with no surprise that I love this but the navy and orange stripes just sit so lovely together. I couldn’t believe it was only £20, it looks like something out of Zara aka my favourite shop ever. I couldn’t help but finish the look off with my khaki boots, totally giving in to my khaki addiction with this outfit! Remember to follow @thehappinessboutiqueHQ on instagram for some great pieces at amazing prices! Boots : River Island | Bag : YesStyle What are your guys views on dupes? Can you still enjoy the bag the same or do you carry some guilt with it? Don’t forget to stay up to date by following me on Bloglovin’!

How to take the perfect selfie

How to take the perfect selfie

How many pictures are behind the perfect selfie? Precisely 77 in my case. Anyway, we all know that it’s the end result that counts and thanks to trial and error and some pretty handy tips from my sister I’ve come up with a winning combination on how to take a great selfie. I thought I would share the selfie love! Lighting Unlike a lot of bigger bloggers I’m not yet at the stage where I have my own beauty light in my room, some of us have gotta work with what God gave us (insert sassy emoji here). My best tip would be to use natural light only, I would never take a photo (selfie or not) with the light on. I’ve found that it words best if the light is facing you as it’s so much more flattering. If the light’s behind you it blows out the background and casts all sorts of nasty shadows on your face! Background Unless you’re in Paris and want the Eiffel Tower in the background, you generally will want to keep it pretty plain . My bedroom is honestly perfect for selfies, I’ve got a white wardrobe facing a window so it was pretty much made for it! If I’m not at home I tend to try and find a light coloured background as I love the clean and simple look. White space When I say white space I don’t necessarily mean the colour but the space around the subject – you! Use the negative space to your advantage, it can really make or break a picture. I know these pictures are further away but I love a good crop on an instagram selfie. Choose your outfit wisely Now I know for me, when I wear white or light colours my selfies are always better. I mean obviously people only take selfies when they look in the mirror and think ‘oh hi there, you look pretty good today’ but I definitely think that certain colours highlight you’re face and make you look a damn sight better! Try different angles Everyone has their best side, utlise it ladies! I find that taking the photo on a slight angle also accentuates your cheekbones and just generally works wonders. Filter the buggery out of it Lastly and posssibly the most important of all – filters. Use those instagram/vsco filters like there’s no tomorrow! Do you know what I found the most hard about this post? Smiling, not just smiling, but smiling and showing my teeth. Isn’t that crazy?! For years my slightly discoloured teeth have always been somewhat of an embaressment to me and over time I’ve learnt to perfect my smile with my mouth closed. So much so that when I actually wanted to show my tegs off I couldn’t smile without looking like I was in physical pain! This is actually awful and shows that I definitely don’t smile widely often enough! From now on I’m definitely going to make a conscious effort to show of my pearly whites…

I don’t know if you’ve noticed (you definitely have) but I’m just a tad on the obsessive side when it comes to the colour khaki. Black Jeans, Blue Shirt #nexttake12

Black Jeans, Blue Shirt #nexttake12

Okay, so Lana said blue jeans, white shirt but hey, any kinda jeans with any kinda shirt and I’m happy. I’ve actually surprised myself recently with my love for shirts, white t-shirts are usually my everyday uniform but recently I’ve shifted to shirts and seriously, I’ve been missing out. As I’m the casual-ist of casual dressers I usually wear my shirts undone but with the pretty tie detail this Next shirt called out to be buttoned right to the top. I actually really like it, who knew? I could be buttoning up more of my shirts in the future, watch this space (I can already sense your anticipation to see me in shirts done all of the way up). I’ve gone for a smart-ish look, well about as smart as I get. I think I look quite grown up!! And yes I am aware that I’m 25 and therefore technically a grown up.  What do you think to this look? How would you style the shirt? Please can we also just ignore the fact that I have a claw hand? Ok thanks! I was actually surprised by this shirt from Next, I usually dismiss Next as being mumsy but it’s totally not. After receiving this shirt I thought I’d take a little look in store and they have the nicest shoes and bags as well, I picked up a pair of jeans for just £22 which I was gobsmacked at (I usually get them from Topshop where they’re £42). I also noticed this bag which I’m totally going to have to go back for. As a result i’ve now signed up to the directory (woops) and did you know that they also do next day delivery if you order before midnight? I tried this out the other month actually, I was struggling to find something for a wedding and my original outfit just wasn’t looking right (you know the feeling?) so I panic ordered a few dresses and was shocked to discover that I had till midnight. And in case you’re curious, it came the next morning, I mean how do they even do that?!
