Guerlain Review // House of Fraser

When House of Fraser emailed me asking if I’d like to try out some Guerlain products it was pretty much a no brainer. Now I have to admit that I’ve never used any of their products before, but the one thing I did know about Guerlain is that the packaging was impeccable. Beautiful products that ought to be on display at all times! Guerlain // La Petite Robe Noire This range in particular is exciting because it’s actually exclusive to House of Fraser for a month, which makes me feel pretty darn special. Yes, you heard it first, one of the elite members trying out these products first. . along with the rest of the lucky folks who shop at House of Fraser. . . but we needn’t mention that bit now had we?! The pigmentation is really light and shimmery, almost more like a tinted balm. I’m not being funny but who cares what it looks like when it tastes as good as it does?! The taste, I mean smell . . kind of reminds me of the Lancome juicy tubes that everyone had at school. Yeah they tasted good but honestly who wants their hair permanently stuck to their lips? I love the lighter pink colour because it’s not too bright and it feels really moisturising, not to mention the fact that it tastes incredible. These would be great for a ‘no make up’ make up look because they give the most subtle hint of colour. I’m all about the understated look! Lipstick Pink // Lipstick Purple // Perfume Can we just take a moment of appreciation for the packaging? I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if there’s one thing Guerlain know it’s packaging! This tiny but perfectly formed perfume sample is a drop from heaven. If I’m completely honest I didn’t even know that Guerlain did perfume before but I’m definitely adding this to my list of things I want for my birthday. So what if my birthdays in May? I guess for now I can carry this one in my handbag so I always smell incredible! Don’t forget to follow me on Bloglovin as I’m hoping to do more beauty posts! New Love // Casual Trousers

New Love // Casual Trousers

I’m a jeans girl through to the bone, but recently I’ve been eyeing up casual trousers, something I never thought I would. Peg leg, flared, culottes, you name it I’ve got my eye on it. I love how smart they look and feel like it’s something I could really go for. My main problem is my height, whenever I’ve looked for a pair of trousers before I find that they cut off at the wrong place making me look ridiculously lanky!! I’m restarting my search and this time I’m a woman on a mission, I’ve actually ordered a pair of culottes, shock horror! I promise myself that I won’t give up until I find a pair this time! Hold me to it!! Those casual trousers will soon be in my possession! Here’s some looks I found on Pinterest and am absolutely loving! Shop The Look // Casual Trousers So in my quest for the perfect pair of casual trousers, I’ve found a few too many than my bank balance can handle. Statement Coat // AETERNA STYLE

Statement Coat // AETERNA STYLE

I’m in love with this statement coat from Aeterna Style, so much so that I don’t know how I’m going to bring myself to post it back to them – I want it to be mine! *Coat : Aeterna Style // Jumper : H&M Old  // *Jeans : Aeterna Style // *Bag : Pauls Boutique // *Shoes : Linzi Shoes // *Sunglasses : Plastic Tail Statement Coat When it comes to winter, which it briefly did for all of about 5 days? You live in your coat, am I right? I feel like you have to invest in more than one coat (as I keep telling my boyfriend) because that and your shoes are all people really see in winter! Thats why statement coats are so great, they add the wow factor to your outfit without even having to think, just chuck it on and hey presto your ready to go. I chose this one because of the oversized style and because of the colour palette. We all know I’m a lover of neutrals and whilst it’s still a statement coat it’s not so out there as some of the others available not the high street. Lace Up Lovin’ I’m so obsessed with my black lace up’s so it was a no brainer when I saw these on the Linzi website. I wasn’t sure about them being patent but actually I love them! The colour goes perfectly with these faded grey jeans, honestly the comfiest jeans ever! I’ve never really seen the allure of buying expensive jeans, but when you put them on you can seriously feel the difference. They’re so much comfier then you’re average Topshop Jamies (still love you Jamie) and have so much stretch in them! Aeterna Style I’m just so shocked that I didn’t even know that this little corner of the internet existed! I’m not usually one for splashing the cash as you will all know but I love that each piece is carefully chosen to stand the test of time. I think it’s great to support boutiques like this and it’s got a more personal touch to it, knowing how much care and attention has gone into picking each and every piece. Who else is loving those shades?! What are your favourite things to splash out on? Let me know if theres something I’m missing out on and need to try! 3 Ways Positive Language Can Help You

3 Ways Positive Language Can Help You

Learn to speak with intention. Using positive language is something I’ve learnt to do over the past year, it’s easily said than done, believe you me! When we talk about ourselves we often set ourselves up for failure (or make failure an option) before we even begin. I don’t know if it’s the fact that we regularly downplay ourselves because perhaps it’s not socially accepted to talk positively about yourself. I don’t know about you but personally if someone compliments me I instantly feel the need to compliment something back, “your prettier” or “this old thing” just saying “thank you” doesn’t seem like an option! Positive Language I’ve listed out three words or phrases that I challenge you to recognise and implement in your life. I truly believe in the power of the mind, positive thinking and positive language. If your always moaning and talking about how unfortunate you are then do you honestly expect for things to get better? If you don’t even believe in yourself then how on earth can you expect other people to? I Can I know what you’re thinking, it’s something you say everyday. I’m not talking about saying “I can pop the kettle on” etc, I’m talking about swapping it for words like “I might”, non committal words. Words that are used all of the time so you never have to fully commit to something. You can and you will! Using words like this honestly put you back in control. I love this little postcard, my friend got it for me when I decided to hand my notice in at work. As my best friend she saw first hand the decline of my personality and how that place was affecting me. I was taken aback when I told her about my decision and she was so happy, I didn’t realise how obvious it was to everyone else but me! I keep this on my mirror now to remind myself of why positive language is so important and how I can do whatever I want! I Am So many people add in a little “I’ll try” to sentences and I am by no means innocent. I’m doing a 30 day Yoga challenge at the moment and I don’t know how many times I’ve said I’m going to try and do Yoga tonight. By saying you’re going to try you’re already putting it out there that you might not. Be more intentional with what you say and use more positive language! If you want to do it and you are going to do it then say it! I Will This is something I’ve really started to implement recently and I find it’s so great for positivity and truly believing in yourself. It’s not about if something happens it’s about when, its not about I wish, its about I will! Instead of looking up to people and thinking ‘I wish I lived like that‘ I think ‘I can’t wait till thats me!‘. Yes people probably think I’m slightly arrogant but…

How to Wear White Jeans in Winter

How to Wear White Jeans in Winter

White jeans in winter is never really something I’d considered. To me, white jeans are exclusively a summer item that should be packed away with the floaty shorts and crop tops when October rolls around. However, I’m a big fan of Emily Luciano from LovelyLuciano.com and I’ve seen her rock white jeans in winter on the reg. To me, if she’s doing it, it’s ok. Which is what led to me doing it – such a copy cat! Hey no, it’s not copying – I’m influenced by her style. . Coat : Topshop Old // Jumper : Zara Old  // Jeans : Primark DIY (see how I did it here) // Shoes : River Island Limited Stock ( Similar Here) I have to admit I struggled with what footwear to finish the outfit off with. I love all of the neutrals together but most of my footwear is black and I found boots with this look a bit over powering, this however is perfect! Bringing back my favourite lace ups! I also recently got a pair like this in nude from Linzi shoes which would also look great, if I do say so myself! White Jeans in Winter So as I explained before it was the lovely Emily Luciano from LovelyLuciano.com who inspired me to try my hand at styling a pair of white jeans in winter. Not a combination I normally would have thought to work but hey, it does. I think you should try it too! I think it works well because I’ve kept it neutral with this jumper I found in my sisters wardrobe – seriously that place is like narnia, I need to visit more often! I’m loving the different shades of oatmeal in the knit, because its a lighter colour it’s not too harsh against the white. Do you know what I’m thinking though? I bet an all white look would look amazing in winter, if you had a white coat and – would you wear white shoes with an all white look? Honestly, sometimes I think shoes really bring an outfit together but sometimes they totally ruin it! What do you think to this look, would you or have you worn white jeans in winter? I definitely need to start having less rules for my wardrobe and mixing it up a bit – I mean if I’m going to wear jeans all the time I should at least wear different coloured ones right?! Shop the Look I’ve linked some bits below as most of the items in my look are old or sold out – sorry! I’ve found some pretty similar pieces though and I think I actually might prefer those lace up’s to mine, bearing in mind that mine are the devil and eat my feet whilst I walk around in agony!
