DIY Choker // 2 Simple Steps

1 + 1 = 2 and love for the choker plus no money equals a DIY choker project. You may have seen my previous post on my love for the choker and Danielle Bernstein from We Wore What. In my eyes you just cannot say one without the other, they go together like cheese on crackers or peanut butter and jelly! Anyway, after publicly outing my new obsession I was on the hunt for a choker in my budget, my budget being about £1, I would have stretched to £1.99. I know I said obsessed but when I try something new I like to buy it cheaply first (if its possible of course!) to see if it’s worth investing in the real deal/ the deluxe edition! This is where my little project came in, what’s better than a £1 choker? Thats right! A DIY Choker, zero pennies spent here. Soooo, I thought I would share my little DIY project with you lovely people as it’s literally the easiest thing to do in the world, so easy that I actually contemplated whether it was worthy of a full blog post or if I should just snapchat it? (snapchat username : sineadcrowe – like what I did there?) I’d already shot the pictures so here we are, a full blown blog post for a two step process. DIY Choker Gather your materials So mine literally didn’t cost a penny as I already had this old necklace from when I was younger, you can probably buy this cord/thread from somewhere like Hobbycraft or a haberdashery shop! Alternatively, and something I was debating before I found this gem,  a shoelace could work well? Step One // Cut Cut your thread, ribbon, shoelace, cord, whatever you can lay your hands on, to the length you want your choker to be. I didnt really have much choice with it already being cut, I do like the length of it but I’ve seen ones that wrap round a couple of times and they look pretty snazzy! Step Two // Tie Self explanatory no? Wrap your chosen rope/thing (descriptive I know) and tie in a bow round the front. Or if you have the length and want to it would look good wrapped round a couple of times then tied in a bow! Ta-dah, your very own handmade choker! Shop Chokers If you’re not down with the whole DIY thing, I’ve linked below some of my favourite ones to buy below!! If you do make your own DIY Choker then make sure you let me know and tag me in any pictures so I can see!! Also make sure you’re following me on Bloglovin’ to stay up to date and never miss a post!!

The Leather Biker Jacket // Part 3

The Leather Biker Jacket // Part 3

I’m My favourite style of leather jacket by far is the biker jacket. It just oozes effortless cool and can make even the simplest of outfit’s look pulled together. *Jacket : Your Shores // Top : Primark // Skirt : Zara Old // *Wedges : Next Old  The Biker Jacket Whenever I’m going out for the evening I have to take my biker jacket, I can’t face the cold!! This ones great because it’s slightly cropped it cuts off perfectly to flatter the figure! I have one I love from Warehouse which I got in the sale a couple of years ago but it’s bum length which always seems to dress down my outfits for a night out! Styling Leather As I said before, styling leather is literally the easiest thing. The only rule I would say is to not do double leather but then again, if you had a chunky knit or something breaking it up then I don’t see why not! I always wear my black leather look wax coated jeans with my biker jacket and it looks fine, actually I think I pull off biker chic quite well, even if I do say so myself!! As always, don’t forget to check me out on Bloglovin and hit follow for many more great posts to come! All photographs taken by Kirk Schwarz. You can find his website here and instagram here!

5 Steps to Becoming a Savvy Shopper

5 Steps to Becoming a Savvy Shopper

Now I don’t know how authorised I am to give you this kind of information, not being such a savvy shopper myself and all that! But what I do know is that these are simple steps that honestly help you and don’t take much time or effort to impliment… you can thank me later! Use Cash I find it really hard to budget when I’m shopping and generally loose all sense of what’s in my bank account. I do check what’s there before I go out but purely so I don’t face the embarrassment of my card being declined, not so I have enough to buy dinner that evening. Clearly I’d rather have the shoes and eat super noodles (we all know I eat whats in Sue Crowe’s cupboards – love you Mum). Anyway, what I sometimes do and you should definitely do, is check my bank before I go and withdraw the amount I can spend in cold hard cash. I’m telling you now when you see the pot going down with every purchase you soon think twice! Impulse buys will be a thing of the past – maybe not the sweets at the checkout though, they always get me! Do Your Research Online I know you want to buy the ~insert product you NEED here~ right now but take a minute to utilise the world wide web and you could save yourself a few pounds. Seriously guys, it adds up! I have to admit I personally find this a hard one to remember but it’s so easy to do and really helps! Do your research! A savvy shopper use’s deal sites, there’s so many to choose from and even if you just type in the store and ‘discount code’ into google you might find something! There’s so many different offers available out there like this discount code for Pink Boutique and if you can’t find anything then try the sit and wait game. If you leave the pieces you’re after in your virtual basket for a couple of hours (if you can manage the wait), brands often send you a gentle reminder via email, hopefully with a little discount code to tempt you! Will you wear it? Use the 3 times rule Before you buy it, visualise how you’ll wear it. If you can’t think of 3 different occasions/ways you’ll wear the item then you don’t need it! A savvy shopper never buys something they’ll then have to buy more things to style it with, that is one hell of a big no no! I’m someone who likes to make my wardrobe really work for me so even though this may be your absolute worst nightmare, I have pieces I can wear for day, night and work. I like to stick to separates that can be mixed and matched to create different looks, dressing them up or down! Use Online Beauty Retailers I know it’s hard when you’re in store and your favourite foundation that you just ran out of is right there, but being…

Blue Jeans, White Shirt

Blue Jeans, White Shirt

Shirt : Topshop // Jeans : Next // Boots : Next // Bag : Zara A Classic Look Ok, so it’s no Audrey Hepburn Breakfast at Tiffany’s, but seriously, is there any look that’s more classic for the modern day gal than blue jeans and a white shirt!? Lana Del Rey said it, Homer Simpson’s a fan, what more do you need to know? I said it in yesterday’s post and I’ll say it again, I’d be happy wearing just blue jeans and a white shirt for the rest of my life. The Blue Jeans Blue jeans are pretty much my best friends in the whole entire world. They’re always there for me, they’re ridiculously comfy, and they look good with anything. My favourites generally come from Topshop, I’m a die hard fan of the Jamie style. I know what size I am and I know exactly how they fit, when it comes to jeans – stick to what you know!! I do want to find some cheaper alternatives though so if anyone knows of some I would love to know so I can try them out!! The White Shirt I love white shirt looks but I often find that white shirts are quite stiff. I hate that material. Like school shirts or something?! When I found this super soft Topshop one I was so happy. I love the boxy shape and the slits which make it so comfy and easy to move in. If you hadn’t cottoned on yet, comfort is key to my wardrobe! I  love the clean look of a white shirt, especially the oversized boyfriend style ones. I feel like they’re super sexy in an understated way. All photos by Alexandra Wallace As always make sure you follow me on Bloglovin’ for lots more outfit posts – I’m hoping to do 3 a week from now on!! Ambitious I know! And lots more happiness and mindfulness posts as I know you guys loved my previous one (see it here!). You can follow me here! Get The Look

Inspo // Blue Jeans, White Shirt

Inspo // Blue Jeans, White Shirt

Chanelling Homer Now I know people probably think that blue jeans + white shirt = Homer Simpson, but I’m here to show you how even the most simple combos can be jazzed up (or down). I think if I had to pick one outfit for the rest of my life to wear it would definitely be this, though maybe I’d switch out the white shirt for a white t-shirt? The look varies so much depending on how much you button up the shirt, are you going for a deep v? or are you going prim and proper, right to the top? The shoes of course make a huge difference, are you opting for trainers? Heels? Boots? – obviously I went for boots but you already knew that because I am a self confessed creature of habit! I’d say that the jeans have a huge impact on what the look is too, some of my favourite looks are the baggy, ridiculously ripped boyfriend jeans styled with some killer heels and a shirt erring on the sexy side with up to 3 button undone, risk-ay! Inspo Get The Look Here’s some of my favourite blue jeans ‘n’ white shirts! I have to admit that She Inside definitely do the best selection of jeans! I mean, I’ve never ordered jeans from there before so I can’t comment on how well they fit but they look pretty great and I’ve seen a few other bloggers wearing them so they’re definitely next up on my hit list – slash when I’m not broke! Topshop is 100% where I get my jeans from when I just want a pair I can rely on, I know their jeans and I know my size, Jamie’s are the best for skinnies! Loving the smokey effect ones below, I’m sure you’ve noticed I practically live in jeans so you can never have enough!
