I got my hair did. That’s basically what this post is about. I had it done a few months ago and went tentatively short, then this time I went the whole hog and got it proper short. Sassoon have truly restored my shaky faith in hairdressers so I thought I’d share my experience, what I asked for and how I decided what to get, to help you make the jump if you’re teetering on the edge! So this was just going to be a post full of pictures of me sexually grabbing my hair but then I thought it might look like some form of soft porn plus who doesn’t love an outfit? I also had these new sandals that I basically just wanted to show off. I love them incase you hadn’t guessed. This weather is on crack and I no longer know how to dress myself, so I ended up with a weird mix of sandals on my feet and a chunky knit on my top, it kind of works though. Getting The Chop – Why Sassoon So as I kind of explained previously I already got my hair cut at Sassoon before – you can see my video about it here. I went pretty short from my previous longer locks, and this time, I went even shorter. When in Rome? I feel like looking back the first time I got it cut it was such an in between length and I love the shorter style, I feel like a smart lady. OK, maybe not quite a lady but I like it and I like the way it makes me feel. Of course I never would have even dared to go for this kind of chop if I hadn’t already experienced the talents of the lovely girls at Sassoon. Having the head colourist and one of the top stylists on your side, you know you’re in safe hands and just by talking to them about what I wanted I knew they knew what they were doing. I was first told that the length I wanted wouldn’t work. I wanted shoulder length but they quickly explained the hazards of this length – it flicking out and never sitting right being one of them. I went for slightly longer, I’m just not ready for slightly shorter yet! They also asked about how I style it on a day to day basis, adding in a few light layers so that when I curl my hair it’ll sit nicely – I didn’t even know things like that mattered! I have honestly never discussed things like this with my hairdresser before, I say I want it cut and she does whatever the hell she wants – hence why I don’t trust hairdressers all too easily. I am so happy with what Mia’s done with the colouring of my hair. She’s given me some really natural highlights using colouring only – no bleach, so that it grows out naturally and just generally gives…

Waking Up My Tired Skin

My skin is one of the things I’m most self conscious of, not all of it, just the skin on my face. I haven’t got bad skin by any measure, I’m just pale as hell with skin that’s pretty much translucent. If you follow me on snapchat (sineadcrowe) you’ll have seen many a bare faced snap and you’ll know what I’m talking about! I just feel like every little imperfection is so visible, I get freckles which I dislike, any redness is magnified and my under eyes are the thing of nightmares. So since I’ve decided to try and be more confident without make up, I was totally on board when Clarins asked me to test out their new boosters and night cream. What is tired skin? Tired skin is something I would definitely identify with . . it’s nothing about my skin to be fair, I’m just tired and dislike my complexion, so I call it tired skin for a lack of a better description. This perhaps, is why I went for the energy booster from Clarins’ new range. The energy booster claims to “Re-energize and tone skin, minimise signs of fatigue and keep your complexion radiant” gimmie somma that. Clarins Boosters The idea is that you add 3-5 drops of the booster into your day or night cream using as little or often as needed. So it isn’t an everyday thing – though I have to admit I’ve used it every day since I got it. They also say that if you want a more intensive treatment, you can add it to your foundation or face mask – something I haven’t tried yet but may be my next port of call. So these little boosters sent from Clarins heaven are essentially made to detox your skin in any way shape or form you wish. Energy revitalises, Repair reduces redness and comforts damaged skin and detox purifies your skin from the effects of pollution and overindulgence. I think I’m also in need of the detox booster – overindulgence is my middle name. Ok . . I need them all. Energy Booster – Repair Booster – Detox Booster Clarins Multi-Active Nuit Cream First of all, when it comes to putting things on my face the smell is everything. If something smells sickly sweet I can’t bear the throught of putting it all over my face, it’s the same with highly perfumed creams. This has a kind of plant based smell, really clean and fresh. The sort of smell you don’t mind on your face. Together with the booster they go on really nicely, the cream is super lightweight and I already feel like it’s worked wonders. So much so that I’m already planning on repurchasing the cream (those booster drops will last me years) and perhaps even the day cream from the same range. When it comes to your skin, it’s so important to invest because you’ve only got one and you’re stuck with it! It’s all about ageing gracefully and with my 26 birthday next month I’m becoming more and more aware of this! *Clarins Multi-Active Nuit Cream : House of Fraser *Clarins Booster…

Nars No Makeup Look

I’ve never done a make up look before on the blog but I guess with me now doing beauty as well, it was only a matter of time! I’ve been dying to get my hands on some Nars skin tint for a while and thought it was the perfect choice for a no make up make up look! To give a no make up look, I’ve kept it super simple with minimal make up. For me, the two bits that I think are key to this look are super light foundations (like the new Nars skin tint), easy on the contour, nude lips and keeping the eye make up light. I’ve strayed to brown eyeliner for the day as I can still wear my liquid liner without it being too heavy, this Barry M one is also perfect for getting a super thin line. Shop The Look Click and scroll through the images below to shop the bits I used to create this look! Nars Skin Tint I’ve been dying to try some Nars products as all I’d really tried before were the mascara and nail varnish. . . the mascara was and is amazing (I’m currently converting everyone I know to it one by one) but the nail varnish not so much . .so mixed experiences. When I was given the opportunity to try out the new Nars skin tint and some blush, of course I said yes . . be rude not to. I love the way the foundation feels on my skin, it’s so light compared to other foundations but actually I would say it has more coverage than a skin tint, I would class it as more of a light foundation. Perfect for everyday wear and if you were on holiday and wanted something light to wear if you, like me, aren’t happy to bear all. I’m not a huge wearer of blushers but I thought I would try it out, got to start somewhere eh? I really love the colour of it but found it was very pigmented, I did have a Bridget Jones moment the first time I tried it. This is why I decided to leave it out of my no make up look until I’ve got the hang of portion control! Packaging is definitely something that sells make up to me, is that really sad? Look at that Guerlain lippy though? It’s practically a piece of art, putting Macs simple packaging to shame! I’m loving these photos in this afternoons (Friday afternoon FYI) sunlight, it makes the most beautiful shadows in the glass of the perfume and lipstick! Note to self, take more pictures in shadows. . Shop The Event Incase you’ve been living in a hole (slash not reading my blog posts) you’ll know that House of Fraser currently have a huge beauty event on pretty much err’ythaang. Spend £50 or more and you get £10 off until 3rd April. I don’t care if you don’t need anything, surely it’s worth stocking up on your fave foundation or perfume for this price? You can…

The Importance Of Skincare

Let me just put this out there, I have never been good when it comes to skincare. Until a few years ago I didn’t take my make up off before I went to bed and when I did take it off, it was with a rough face wipe. Face creams were what old ladies used and generally, just who needs to think about skincare when you’re in your early twenties? EVERYONE, thats who. I tell you what, standing and talking to the beautiful and make up free Lydia Millen at a recent event was enough to make me want to invest, that’s for sure! Why Skincare is Key To me, now anyway, spending ridiculous amounts on make up is absolutely pointless without a good base. Yes you can cover up bits and of course, people can’t control breakouts etc. I’m lucky that I’ve never really suffered from bad skin (touch wood) but I do have very sensitive skin which is prone to dryness – any advice you guys may have is more than welcome . . give me it! When your skin is good you need less make up and the less make up you put on the better your skin will be . . a lovely cycle. But obviously, you have to invest in some good skincare pieces to get the the ball rolling. Not only is it easier to apply make up and get a flawless finish when you’ve got a good base, but you need less make up and just think of your self esteem, I mean if I only look half as good as Lydia with no make up on I will die happy.. bit dramatic. Estee Lauder – New Dimension I have to confess I hadn’t heard of this one before, but anything that promises to give me luscious lips and I’m in. I’m a self confessed lip chewer and the more I chew the more my lips get dry and flakey and the more I want to chew. . gross I know but it’s a habit I can’t kick. My sister got me some nice Chanel lip balm in an attempt to make me stop and it didn’t . . but it does make a handy prop for my flatlays though. Anyway, I’ve only been using it for a couple of weeks and can already tell that it’s working in some way shape or form. If anything, when I first put it on I can definitely feel the difference in the condition of my lips so I think once I’ve been using it a while I’ll be able to see the full effects. It’s double ended, so first you use the serum which helps to give smoother and fuller looking lips then you apply the balm over the top which hydrates and conditions your lips. The serum is a bit weird to put on but I like the sound of smoother, fuller looking lips and the balm is just like the creamiest smoothest lip balm I’ve ever used .…
