Nars No Makeup Look

I’ve never done a make up look before on the blog but I guess with me now doing beauty as well, it was only a matter of time! I’ve been dying to get my hands on some Nars skin tint for a while and thought it was the perfect choice for a no make up make up look! To give a no make up look, I’ve kept it super simple with minimal make up. For me, the two bits that I think are key to this look are super light foundations (like the new Nars skin tint), easy on the contour, nude lips and keeping the eye make up light. I’ve strayed to brown eyeliner for the day as I can still wear my liquid liner without it being too heavy, this Barry M one is also perfect for getting a super thin line. Shop The Look Click and scroll through the images below to shop the bits I used to create this look! Nars Skin Tint I’ve been dying to try some Nars products as all I’d really tried before were the mascara and nail varnish. . . the mascara was and is amazing (I’m currently converting everyone I know to it one by one) but the nail varnish not so much . .so mixed experiences. When I was given the opportunity to try out the new Nars skin tint and some blush, of course I said yes . . be rude not to. I love the way the foundation feels on my skin, it’s so light compared to other foundations but actually I would say it has more coverage than a skin tint, I would class it as more of a light foundation. Perfect for everyday wear and if you were on holiday and wanted something light to wear if you, like me, aren’t happy to bear all. I’m not a huge wearer of blushers but I thought I would try it out, got to start somewhere eh? I really love the colour of it but found it was very pigmented, I did have a Bridget Jones moment the first time I tried it. This is why I decided to leave it out of my no make up look until I’ve got the hang of portion control! Packaging is definitely something that sells make up to me, is that really sad? Look at that Guerlain lippy though? It’s practically a piece of art, putting Macs simple packaging to shame! I’m loving these photos in this afternoons (Friday afternoon FYI) sunlight, it makes the most beautiful shadows in the glass of the perfume and lipstick! Note to self, take more pictures in shadows. . Shop The Event Incase you’ve been living in a hole (slash not reading my blog posts) you’ll know that House of Fraser currently have a huge beauty event on pretty much err’ythaang. Spend £50 or more and you get £10 off until 3rd April. I don’t care if you don’t need anything, surely it’s worth stocking up on your fave foundation or perfume for this price? You can…

The Importance Of Skincare

The Importance Of Skincare

Let me just put this out there, I have never been good when it comes to skincare. Until a few years ago I didn’t take my make up off before I went to bed and when I did take it off, it was with a rough face wipe. Face creams were what old ladies used and generally, just who needs to think about skincare when you’re in your early twenties? EVERYONE, thats who. I tell you what, standing and talking to the beautiful and make up free Lydia Millen at a recent event was enough to make me want to invest, that’s for sure! Why Skincare is Key To me, now anyway, spending ridiculous amounts on make up is absolutely pointless without a good base. Yes you can cover up bits and of course, people can’t control breakouts etc. I’m lucky that I’ve never really suffered from bad skin (touch wood) but I do have very sensitive skin which is prone to dryness – any advice you guys may have is more than welcome . . give me it! When your skin is good you need less make up and the less make up you put on the better your skin will be . . a lovely cycle. But obviously, you have to invest in some good skincare pieces to get the the ball rolling. Not only is it easier to apply make up and get a flawless finish when you’ve got a good base, but you need less make up and just think of your self esteem, I mean if I only look half as good as Lydia with no make up on I will die happy.. bit dramatic. Estee Lauder – New Dimension I have to confess I hadn’t heard of this one before, but anything that promises to give me luscious lips and I’m in. I’m a self confessed lip chewer and the more I chew the more my lips get dry and flakey and the more I want to chew. . gross I know but it’s a habit I can’t kick. My sister got me some nice Chanel lip balm in an attempt to make me stop and it didn’t . . but it does make a handy prop for my flatlays though. Anyway, I’ve only been using it for a couple of weeks and can already tell that it’s working in some way shape or form. If anything, when I first put it on I can definitely feel the difference in the condition of my lips so I think once I’ve been using it a while I’ll be able to see the full effects. It’s double ended, so first you use the serum which helps to give smoother and fuller looking lips then you apply the balm over the top which hydrates and conditions your lips. The serum is a bit weird to put on but I like the sound of smoother, fuller looking lips and the balm is just like the creamiest smoothest lip balm I’ve ever used .…

Giorgio Armani // Make Up Review

Giorgio Armani // Make Up Review

I was very lucky to be contacted by House of Fraser a couple of weeks ago about trying out some new bit’s of make up from Giorgio Armani. Now I’m not a big beauty enthusiast, nor am I an expert, but I am starting to do beauty posts and I do want to know my shit, and I will know my shit, eventually. Hey, everyone’s got to start somewhere right?! I do actually use make up as well so I feel like, as a make-up using/wearing woman, you may be interested in my opinion . . did I convince you to keep reading yet?! Giorgio Armani // Maestro Glow Foundation I’m used to using the Mac Studio Sculpt foundation which, I was in the opinion of it being lightweight but apparently it isn’t, it’s pretty darn heavy. Which may be why I was a bit underwhelmed by the coverage of this one, to be fair it is a totally different texture to my usual foundation. This one is a lot more lightweight and spreads really easily, which means you don’t have to use a lot. The glow it gives is amazing, although when I first put it on I wasn’t convinced, my boyfriend said he preferred it to my usual one . . not sure if his opinion counts, I tend to think he just says what he thinks is the right thing to say. I always like my foundation to have SPF in it, gotta protect against ageing ladies, and the pipette is good for measuring how much you need, no wastage is never a bad thing! Why does make up come in such flatlay worthy packaging, I’m not ashamed to say I may be keeping some of this for future pictures, hey, thats how I roll . . Giorgio Armani //Lip Maestro You may have noticed from my previous post about matte lip products that I’m a fan of a matte lip. Having had the pleasure of testing out this high end lacquer, in comparison to the budget products, it’s totally worth paying the extra. The colour is amazing, just look at that pink, it’s not too bright, kinda browny and stays just as vibrant on the lips. It goes on so much nicer than the budget ones, it’s much easier to control and you can’t feel it on your lips the same. You know that tight feeling when you put a face mask on and it dries? That pretty much sums up how the cheaper ones feel. Giorgio Armani // Lash Ecstasy I’m pretty much in love with my current mascara, so I feel like this one never really had a chance. OK, the packaging is beautiful and we all know I’m a sucker for a pretty picture, but I’m just not sure it’s the right mascara for me. It’s easy to use, the brush is good and easy to control, I didn’t get mascara all over my eye lids, it coated them well, my lashes look good, it certainly ticks all of the…

My Guide To Matte Lips On a Budget // Review

My Guide To Matte Lips On a Budget // Review

It’s official, matte lips are officially a thing. When it comes to trying out new beauty things, I’m not the most adventurous, hell I’ve only just started wearing eye shadow and guess what colour it is? NUDE. So I like to start by trying out a budget version, hence the post “matte lips on a budget”. I’ve spent the past few weeks collecting different shades and brands of matte lips, ok 4, if there’s more than two that’s a collection to me! All for blogging purposes of course, because I just knew you guys would want me to try them all and let you know, and I never like to let people down. Ok, I wanted them. Matte Lips On A Budget NYX – Soft Matte Lip Cream in Antwerp So this one’s been judged the most for two reasons. Firstly, I had high expectations. NYX is like a buzzword in make up at the moment and I feel like this matte lip cream is something people are raving about in particular so I had high expectations. Secondly, the colours on Asos were not clear and I ordered what I thought was a pinky nude which came as a pinky red and I ain’t one for bright colours! It definitely doesn’t go on as smoothly as the other products however, it does smell like butterscotch and if i’m putting something in and around my mouth it better taste/smell nice. Just realised what that sounded like. It is actually a really nice colour though, like I will actually consider wearing this colourful lip cream kind of nice. The colour is really thick? I don’t speak beauty, but basically, it’s vibrant with just one layer. MUA Luxe – Velvet Laquer in Tranquility This one smells a bit like hubba bubba’s in a disgustingly sickly kind of way. I went to get this after I went into Space NK looking for a matte lip and the girl suggested trying a cheap one before pointing me in the direction of the nearest Superdrug with the name of this brand. If I’m not mistaken it’s actually Superdrugs own brand but I might be completely wrong! Anyway, it was only £3.00 and when a tester is still on your hand after numeral scrubs and hand washes a day later, it’s a winner. That is some staying power! I love the pinky brown colour look, just up my street! For the price this one is incredible, the epitome of great matte lips on a budget! Bourjois – Rouge Edition Velvet in Don’t Pink of It This has to be my favourite because the colour is just b-e-a-utiful and it goes on like a dream. It was more than any of the others at £8.99 but totally worth it! I now carry it in my handbag at all times, just in case. It’s also just got a general nice make up/ lip product smell, you know the one – am I the only one who cares about how their make up smells? Sleek Makeup – Matte Me in Birthday Suit For price,…

My Favourite Lip Combo

My Favourite Lip Combo

We all have that one lipstick that we love and go back to time and time ago right? My favourite lip combo has to be the Rimmel Cappuccino lip liner and the Natural Collection lipstick in Figleaves. What I love about this combination is the brown colour that isn’t so dark brown that it’s offensive. I still feel like its a pretty natural look with an edge! It’s the one lip combo that I always know I can rely on to look good! I feel like for me this is my dressy lip too, because I don’t really wear red lipstick, often I’ll opt for this brown when I want to go out out! First things first, before I put any lip produts on I always apply lip balm. I don’t know about you, but my lips are eternally chapped. I’ve tried lip scrubs, I’ve tried brushing them with a tooth brush, nothing works! So before I do anything I always have to apply some lip balm to create a nice base for the lipstick to go on smooth. Recently I’ve been trying out Dr Paw Paw, I didn’t realise that it’s actually not just a balm and is pretty much a solves everything balm! It is great for lips but I also used it as a primer the other day which it did a pretty amazing job with! Think of it as a new take on the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream! You can get your own Dr Paw Paw balm here, or just see what all the fuss is about!! Winning Lip Combo You can see from the above photo how much I really love this lip combo! I guess it’s pretty disgusting and seen as the lipstick is only about £3 I should probably get a new one! I just hate waste! There’s so much left! I had to show you how scummy it looks, I get shouted at everytime I take it it out but it’s not going anywhere I love it! I love that the two as a little lip combo create a lovely ombre effect. When I put it on I colour in the edges with my lip liner and use the lipstick in the centre and blend. It’s a really subtle ombre effect but it’s just enough for someone like me who’s dipping their toe into the world of beauty! What’s your favourite lip combo? I would love to hear what new lipsticks to try out as I’m only just really getting into beauty! I feel like Mac Whirl or Soar liner are the ones I need to try out next as everyone’s always raving about them! Make sure you follow me on Bloglovin’ to stay up to date with the blog! Lots of new stuff coming your way especially on my brand spanking new youtube channel which by the way you should have already subscribed to but if you haven’t then go and do it now! One last thing, I’m running a huge givewaway on…
