Blue Jeans, White Shirt

Shirt : Topshop // Jeans : Next // Boots : Next // Bag : Zara A Classic Look Ok, so it’s no Audrey Hepburn Breakfast at Tiffany’s, but seriously, is there any look that’s more classic for the modern day gal than blue jeans and a white shirt!? Lana Del Rey said it, Homer Simpson’s a fan, what more do you need to know? I said it in yesterday’s post and I’ll say it again, I’d be happy wearing just blue jeans and a white shirt for the rest of my life. The Blue Jeans Blue jeans are pretty much my best friends in the whole entire world. They’re always there for me, they’re ridiculously comfy, and they look good with anything. My favourites generally come from Topshop, I’m a die hard fan of the Jamie style. I know what size I am and I know exactly how they fit, when it comes to jeans – stick to what you know!! I do want to find some cheaper alternatives though so if anyone knows of some I would love to know so I can try them out!! The White Shirt I love white shirt looks but I often find that white shirts are quite stiff. I hate that material. Like school shirts or something?! When I found this super soft Topshop one I was so happy. I love the boxy shape and the slits which make it so comfy and easy to move in. If you hadn’t cottoned on yet, comfort is key to my wardrobe! I  love the clean look of a white shirt, especially the oversized boyfriend style ones. I feel like they’re super sexy in an understated way. Inspo // Blue Jeans, White Shirt

Inspo // Blue Jeans, White Shirt

Chanelling Homer Now I know people probably think that blue jeans + white shirt = Homer Simpson, but I’m here to show you how even the most simple combos can be jazzed up (or down). I think if I had to pick one outfit for the rest of my life to wear it would definitely be this, though maybe I’d switch out the white shirt for a white t-shirt? The look varies so much depending on how much you button up the shirt, are you going for a deep v? or are you going prim and proper, right to the top? The shoes of course make a huge difference, are you opting for trainers? Heels? Boots? – obviously I went for boots but you already knew that because I am a self confessed creature of habit! I’d say that the jeans have a huge impact on what the look is too, some of my favourite looks are the baggy, ridiculously ripped boyfriend jeans styled with some killer heels and a shirt erring on the sexy side with up to 3 button undone, risk-ay! Inspo Get The Look Here’s some of my favourite blue jeans ‘n’ white shirts! I have to admit that She Inside definitely do the best selection of jeans! I mean, I’ve never ordered jeans from there before so I can’t comment on how well they fit but they look pretty great and I’ve seen a few other bloggers wearing them so they’re definitely next up on my hit list – slash when I’m not broke! Topshop is 100% where I get my jeans from when I just want a pair I can rely on, I know their jeans and I know my size, Jamie’s are the best for skinnies! Loving the smokey effect ones below, I’m sure you’ve noticed I practically live in jeans so you can never have enough! That Suede Coat

That Suede Coat

Coat : Forever 21 // Jumper : H&M // Jeans : Topshop // Boots : Next // Bag : Zara I would have begged, borrowed or stole to get this coat a couple of months ago! When I went on to Forever 21’s website and saw the price of it, under £60 for a genuine suede coat, I knew it was going to be mine. Round about this time my boyfriend had been asking about what I wanted for Christmas. Silly me put it on the list instead of just buying it, and this is where the emotional blackmail begins. When I first mentioned it I said I really wanted it and by the next week I’d threatened him with crying on christmas day if it wasn’t there. Constantly ringing him to say I’ll buy it don’t worry, emails with discount codes, more emotional blackmail and finally the magical day came with this beauty under the tree. . . totally worth it! I can’t stop wearing this exact outfit – well these jeans, that suede coat and the snake boots! I feel like because it’s so fitted it’s a real ladies coat. I can literally wear whatever I want underneath and I look smart! I’m telling you girls, all you need is the right pair of shoes with the right jacket and you’re gonna look good! All Photographs by Alexandra Wallace So! What do you think to my new coat?! Do you think it was worth the months of moaning and emotional blackmailing that it took for me to get it? I do! Simple Neutral Styling

Simple Neutral Styling

*Jacket : Fashion Bazaar // Jumper : Primark // Jeans : Topshop // Watch : Larsson & Jennings // *Boots : Public Desire Location, Location, Location Firstly can we just take a minute to have a look at the location of this shoot? What do we think? I think we’ve established the fact that I go out specifically to take pictures and don’t just have a photographer at hand to shoot me wearing what I wear everyday! This is a cute set of shops outside a hotel where I live and I think it looks so Chelsea and cute! I think I’ll definitely be going back here to shoot again! Unfortunately the lighting was going a bit so we had to use a flash which to me is a no no but Kirk assured me that it would be fine and hey, turns out you can trust a photographer! Neutral Styling As we all know I’m a huge fan of neutral styling. If you cut me open I would be camel and grey through and through! I’m really loving this jacket at the moment, I’ve got so much more wear out of it than I thought and honestly it goes with everything I wear. I think in the summer I would even wear it in an all white look – too crazy? I have to admit that half of this outfit is stolen property. Only the jacket and boots are mine and the jeans and jumper are my sisters. Oh they joy of still living at home! I can’t believe she got this jumper from Primark, it’s so soft! I’ll be stealing this a lot more often I think! Also love the charcoal-y black colour of these jeans and the rips haven’t got out of control like the ones on my jeans yet! Making Happiness a Habit

Making Happiness a Habit

I love a good dose of happiness, who doesn’t? So I thought I would do a little post for you guys getting back to my mindfulness roots with a few of my top tips to create little habits that will bring you more happiness in everyday life, I call them the happiness habits! Speak the Lingo I am SO guilty of this! Using passive words, like ‘I wish‘ or ‘I should‘ or ‘I might‘, passive words! Use active words, next time you find yourself saying ‘I should do this‘ turn it into ‘I will do this‘. I used to always say ‘I wish I was a big fashion blogger like We Wore What, I love her appartment and her wardrobe looks amazing’ now I say ‘I can’t wait till I’m as successful as her and have a wardrobe like that!’ some people see it as arrogance, I see it as determination!! Don’t be a yes man I am 100% not guilty of this! I used to be before I learnt not to be. There is a huge sense of freedom to saying no when you don’t want to do something. Why should you say yes just because you’re free? If you don’t want to do something then don’t. Laugh Your Way To Happiness I’m reading a book called Laugh your way to happiness at the minute and the science behind laughter is pretty incredible! It’s the same with smiling, with laughing you can fake it and still reap the benefits. Forcing yourself to smile will still instantly lift your mood as will faking a laugh! Forcing yourself to laugh also makes spontaneous laughter come more easily! Spread Kindness A small act of kindness can make a huge impact on someone else’s day and let’s be honest, it makes you feel pretty damn good about yourself too! Now I’m not saying you should only do these things to make yourself feel good but . . well why not if it’s helping someone else out as well? Even just letting someone go before you in the queue or carrying someones suitcase up a set of stairs, every little helps! I once gave an old lady that had hurt her ankle a lift back to her car when I saw her limping up the road, I buzzed off that good deed for a good week or so! Listen I’m the worst for this one, I can’t focus on what someone’s saying for more than 5 minutes before I’m thinking about what I’ve got to do later on. 10 minutes later I’ll tune back in and think, shit.. just nod and smile. It’s almost like another good deed really because lets face it, you can tell the difference when someones actually listening to you and when someone does it gives you a true sense of worth. Showing genuine interest in someone and what they’re saying doesn’t take any extra time than day dreaming about what you’re going to eat for tea but it does make a difference to the speaker! Let…
