DIY Hair | Do not try this at home!

So this week I thought I would have a go at some DIY hair dye, ‘don’t do it’ you’re thinking ‘go professional’ I hear you say. Yes well thanks so much but I really could have used that advice before I went through with it. Fat load of help it is now! So I was going for that beachy blonde highlight look so I decided to but the colour I liked in an all over dye and apply it to sections of my hair brushing it through for even coverage to avoid the zebra chic look. This step didn’t turn out so badly, if it turned out at all. I went lighter by 0.00001 of a shade and it was barely noticeable, however, there were no zebra stripes and it looked pretty even, I was a natural. Hungry for more I took myself down to superdrug and purchased a highlighting kit, a brush on one, not one of those awful cap things! I used a similar technique for the highlights and was pretty relaxed, after all I’d already succeeded once so I had nothing to worry about. Next thing I know, My hair is yellow. I don’t have hightlights, I have a yellow head, all over, top to toe. After bathing in silver shampoo for two days straight the yellows calmed down and it’s definitely growing on me. I wanted to share this experience with you guys to just say don’t do it, please learn from my mistakes! If any of you have hair nightmares I would love you to share your stories!!

OOTD | Striped Shirt

OOTD | Striped Shirt

I wanted to show you my new favourite thing ever, I only brought it about two weeks ago and have already pretty much worn it out. I’m ashamed to say that I’ve worn it so much that I’ve had to stop myself from doing OOTD posts on instagram, it would honestly be the same each day. I spotted this on the lovely Hannah from Cocobeautea’s youtube haul video, that girl gives me some serious wardrobe envy! When I first tried it on in Topshop my boyfriend said it was weird and too big, then I was like ‘you seriously don’t have any idea about fashion’ and went back and brought it. Honestly, what a waste of two more days I could have been wearing it for? My boyfriend brought me this lovely Mango bag as a surprise the other day, can you believe it?! Serious brownie points, who would expect a man to pick such a beautiful bag?!Shirt: Topshop | Jeans: Topshop | *Shoes: Linzi | Bag: Mango | *Sunglasses: Zero UV | *Watch: Urban Watch | Bangle : H&M Old ( Similar Here)

Blogging Tips : Getting Started

Blogging Tips : Getting Started

I already know what you’re thinking, “she’s hardly the blonde salad, whats she got to say?”. Well I’ll stop you right there, I know I’m no expert, but I’ve been getting a fair few emails asking me about getting started. Seen as that’s something I’ve been through myself, I thought I’d give you a little list on my top blogging tips and what information I found most helpful when I was setting up my blog. The Name The name of your blog needs to be consistent with the content, it also has to be easy to say and spell! You don’t want people getting fed up when they can’t figure out how to spell your web address now do you!? Remember that this name is also going to stick with you if you’re in it for the long run, so make sure you don’t rush the name! Once you’ve chosen the name google it, youtube it, instagram it, facebook it, twitter it, basically check, check and check again if this name exists else where. I’ve read advice on just going for the .org or another address if your name isn’t available but I definitely disagree with this. Do you really want someone else blogging under the same name or worse still, selling fishing tackle!? Personally, I go by .co.uk and I also brought .com to make sure all bases are covered, ain’t no body getting my name! The Website I personally went with wordpress, I did my research about getting your blog noticed and found lots of recommendations about how wordpress is great for building a community, whether this is right or not I have yet to find out! However, WordPress doesn’t use HTML which means unless your a computer wizz you have to buy a theme. I bought a theme and still struggled, it took a lot of guilt tripping and ‘I’m just a poor little girl who can’t use computers’ to get someone from work to help me with mine (look it works ok!). Content  The best advice I found on your content is to write as you speak and be true to your voice. Don’t just write about something because someone else is, people will read your blog because they want to hear your opinions which is what makes it unique, which is exactly the reason why you shouldn’t be copying others. Obviously there’s a difference between copying and taking inspiration from, it’s hard not to be inspired by other blogs, after all that’s what blogs are there for! Blog Genre Ok, for lack of a better word, what’s your genre? I think this is the hardest thing, I’ve gone down the fashion route with my mindfulness post’s to make it more personal and incorporate something I feel strongly about. That doesn’t mean that later on down the line I might decide to do a beauty post or post about my holiday etc. Lifestyle posts are a given I think as generally that’s what people love to see from bloggers. Folk Chic

Folk Chic

This week my partner in crime (and blog photographer) came home from holiday, yay! Last week I had a bit of a nightmare, I had lots of lovely outfit post’s and photographs lined up to cover her being away when disaster struck. I lost my teeny tiny memory card down the side of the sofa. Cue pop sock on the end of the hoover, we tried everything but the little bugger was gone! So I’m super happy to have her back so we can get shooting again! I brought this top from H&M in the divided section last week, I have to admit, I often walk straight past the divided section passing it off as ‘kids’ clothing. Oh yes, I’m far too sleek and sophisticated for that kind of thing! But seen as I was exchanging something I went through every item in the whole of H&M, I’m not lying.. ask my Mum! I’m not usually one that goes for colour but with my new found love for cold shoulders and my drive to be more ‘girly’ ( a model at work told me I dress like a boy), I thought.. why not! I can’t lie to you, it’s probably the most annoying top I’ve ever worn, but I’d say it’s worth it.. it’s a cute top. The elasticated neckline means it is constantly pinging up around my neck so you have to walk around like the girl from the deodorant advert.. as I said before, totally worth it! I’ve styled it with my good old denim skirt and my new open toe boots from Linzi shoes, who doesn’t love a good shoe boot, am I right or am I right? The tassels are definitely what sold them to me! I think this look is a bit ‘Folk Chic’ shall we call it? Though that might just be the shock of wearing something other than a white t shirt! My Zero UV sunglasses also go perfectly with this top and make a lovely replacement for a necklace. That’s the one thing about these tops, the neckline means necklaces can look a bit icky if they fall in the wrong place, hey presto, the perfect solution. Holiday Haul

Holiday Haul

If you follow me on Instagram you’ll already know (and be sick to the back teeth of hearing) that I’m going to Greece next month. It’s an obligatory holiday as my sister’s getting married whilst we’re out there, but I’m not going to lie and say that I haven’t wanted to go for a while anyway! But seriously, not my choice guys, I’m being forced to! Anyway, we all know it’s outrageous to imagine someone wearing the same clothes two holidays in a row (who even does that?) so any time spent away is always the perfect excuse. This year when my boyfriend asked why exactly the clothes from last year were no longer up to scratch, I went with ‘ these clothes are so not me any more’ and the favourite ‘my style has evolved’ – what it has! After posting that I was off to Greece (ok I’ll stop) over on instagram, I was overwhelmed with the response of the lovely people who have truly made sure that I’ll be looking fly by the pool this summer. My personal favourite will always be Triangl, there’s so many rip offs and fakes around but when you hold an original in your hands, there’s no comparison. And guess what? it matches my super cute speaker from Coloud, who doesn’t love some music by the pool? So I wanted to do a little post for you guy’s to show you the pieces I’m in love with and give you a preview of what I’ll be wearing in Greece (sorry I couldn’t resist). *Bikini: Triangl | *Sunglasses: Zero UV | *Speaker: Coloud | *Headphones: Coloud | *Towel: Yonder Living Oh by the way, did I mention I’m going to Greece next month?
